Frontier Airlines to offer special tickets

Budget airline Frontier will be offering a new seating option allowing a passenger in an aisle or window seat to buy the middle seat, starting May 8. These special tickets will cost $39. 18 of these "More Room" seats will be sold on each flight.

Additionally, Frontier will be requiring passengers to wear face coverings, as well as certifying that they have washed their hands before boarding, that their temperature has been checked before leaving home, and that neither they nor anyone in their household has shown symptoms in the past 14 days.

Frontier hopes that these measures will both reduce the spread of COVID-19 as well as encourage passengers to travel again, as the pandemic cripples the aviation industry. Because scientists are still learning how the virus spreads, it is unclear whether these measures will reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Currently, there are nearly 3.7 million cases of COVID-19 worldwide, with over 1.2 million in the United States.
